The Posh Idiots Guide To Eve

[The Algos, A Gallente Destroyer]

Welcome to the Posh Idiots Guide to Eve.

Over the next few weeks your hosts Ducian and Saint Michaels Soul will be putting together a few introductions to Eve Online, the massively multiplayer online space game created by CCP.

We'll be starting with the real basics, introducing you to the universe of New Eden, taking you through character generation, the Tutorial Missions (and what they're trying to teach you), Interface quirks, how to chose a corporation, how to fit your ship and do various roles.

We'll see how people like these introductions and then maybe go on to do some items in a bit more depth.

We're not experts, we're not bitter vets but we do think we understand enough to get new players over the first few "what the heck is going on!" moments in Eve, to carve out your life as a capsuleer. We've been through all the noob mistakes and want to help pass this information on

Who are we?

Both of us (for better or worse) are part of the Board of PCG Enterprises, a high sec industrial corp with null sec and wormhole presences.  We're part of the guys tasked with welcoming new people to the corp, getting them involved in activities and helping new players get a handle on the complexities of Eve Online

Ducian - Industrial Director, PCG Enterprises.  Ducian is our T2/T3 Industrialist, exploration and production are his main areas of expertise and he has an army of alts doing his bidding in the markets of eve, running research and gathering material.  He's FCed a few fleets and dabbled in small gang PvP. His character generation picture was inspired by portraits of Stalin, which probably says quite a bit about him. Ducian doesn't care about killboards, becuase he cares about other people killing each other and ordering new ships from him.

Saint Michaels Soul - Mining Director, PCG Enterprises.  St Mick decided that he needed a way to make lots of money when he started Eve.  He chose mining. After spending half a year training as a fleet booster and miner he realised that shooting people was much more fun, promptly moved to null-sec and hasn't mined since. Now helps out with introducing people to PvP, which he sometimes even manages to do succesfully himself. He didn't spend much time on his portrait which he kicks himself for every time he logs in.

Who has inspired us?

Gynax Gallenor - Irish Space Genius (tm) and co-host of Fly Reckless.  He's chatted through various things with us and accompanied us on a few roams.  His "Build Reckless" series is amazing. We really appreciate the time he's given us (and PCG Enterprises).

Ripard Teg - Get over to his Blog Jester's Trek.  Ripard has been one of the "good guys" in Eve Online for years and was a member of CSM 8 (CSM is the Council of Stellar Management - A group of players elected to represent the Eve subscribers in design decisions with CCP). His blog has great detail and insight into the game.

Xander Phoena - Larger than life host of Crossing Zebras, a null sec oriented, passionate ramble about life in Eve.  Xander made us realise that podcasts weren't just the province of the elite/enlightened and we thought "if he can..anyone can".  Just kidding Xander.
